Katie Avant is a proven media professional delivering expertise in unscripted television and broadcast journalism. Her skillset makes her a key player in many praiseworthy and captivating television series, live events and newscasts. At RFD-TV, she digs in by producing the reboot of Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom and the Tournament of Roses broadcast on New Year’s Day. But she also brings twelve years’ experience to RFDTV’s editorial department where she currently serves as News Director leading a team of anchors, producers and editors. Katie is always looking for the next project. Whether writing or line producing, Katie loves partnering with her husband, Matthew Avant, an award-winning screenwriter and independent filmmaker. The two were recently married during a lakeside ceremony in Gallatin, TN. They are branching out with their own projects under Media Savant, LLC. Katie also serves as an advisory board member for the University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s Women in Leadership Program. She also previously served on the board for the WICT Network as Director of Mentoring and Director of Programming. She still volunteers for the organization, a business networking group focused on empowering individuals in the fields of media, entertainment and technology.
