Kate Harloe

Kate Harloe is an independent writer and producer based in New York. Kate has extensive experience writing across mediums. Her writing has appeared in a wide range of local and national publications including Mother Jones, The Drift, San Francisco Magazine, among many others, and her work has been cited or followed by The Columbia Journalism Review, The New York Times, MSNBC, Vox, VICE, the Southern Poverty Law Center, and others. She writes a regular series for the alt-global magazine Popula, called Mediaquake, which looks at the relationship between journalism & capitalism. In addition, she writes scripts for radio stories, as well as documentary films. Kate is also a producer with a background in independent documentary film. Currently, she is co-producing The Highest Standard, a feature documentary film that follows three students as they take a leap across the “education gap." She is also producing the six-part documentary series She Creates Change, directed by Martha Adams, and which tells the stories of a selection of teen girls around the world.
