About

Jane Urban is a film editor who is most passionate about verité work that can master the delicate dance between darkness and humor. As a lifelong lover of the experimental and absurd, she always bring a unique eye to any scenario - prioritizing the emotional core of the story and building out the limbs and wings from there. Most recently Jane was editing on an upcoming series directed by Dan Lindsay and TJ Martin for Imagine Documentaries. Prior to that, she was associate editor for Bama Rush (dir. Rachel Fleit | Vice/HBO), editor for a Spotify short doc series about 21 Savage, and editor on a podcast about Bobbi Wine. As an assistant editor, she worked on The New Bauhaus (dir. Alysa Nahmias | Opendox), Ugly Delicious (dir. Morgan Neville | Tremolo/Netflix), ¡Las Sandinistas! (dir. Jenny Murray) and The Honor Farm (dir. Karen Skloss). In addition to docs, Jane has cut installation videos for the artist Nora Schultz - which have been shown at the Whitney Museum, Skulptur Projekte Munster, and Secession. She's also collaborated with numerous musicians to direct, shoot and edit music videos. Jane has a have a BFA in Film from Massachusetts College of Art and Design where she graduated with departmental honors in 2014. When she's not editing, you can find her going on very (very) long bike rides, walking her cattle dog (Luma), winging (and nailing) a recipe, or hanging out with her growing collection of succulents.
