About
Jameka Autry (she/her) is an award-winning filmmaker and investigative storyteller dedicated to centering documentary work around themes of underrepresentation and invisibility across features, shorts, and series. Her most recent feature documentary, TIME AND WATER, premiered at Sundance 2026. Other producing credits include THROUGH THE NIGHT (POV), recipient of a duPont-Columbia University Award and a New York Times Critics' Pick; Emmy Award-winning ERNIE & JOE: CRISIS COPS (HBO); MARATHON: The Patriots Day Bombing (HBO); and IN MY FATHER'S HOUSE (Showtime).
Jameka is a 2025 Film Independent/Netflix Amplifier Fellow, 2022 Sundance Catalyst Fellow, 2022 Ford Foundation JustFilms/Rockwood Leadership Fellow, 2020 Women at Sundance | Adobe Fellow, 2019 Sundance Creative Producing Fellow, and 2017 Impact Partners Documentary Producers Fellow. She was awarded the 2019 Sundance/A&E Brave Storyteller Award and was selected for the inaugural DOC NYC '40 Under 40' list.
She previously served as an adjunct professor at Columbia University's School of the Arts and attended Duke University's Center for Documentary Studies. She received a postgraduate fellowship at the Investigative Reporting Program at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism. She currently sits on the advisory boards of SFFILM's FilmHouse and DOC NYC, and serves on the board of Investigative Studios.
