About

Isabelle Hahn is a filmmaker from Kailua, Hawaii, who grew up in Texas. From the landscape to the politics, she never felt quite at home there: navigating the differences in culture, a lack of diversity or acknowledgment of other perspectives, and her own growing up. This fueled her desire to tell stories — her first film being a short essay doc voiced over clips of her friends and surroundings. Isabelle graduated from Northeastern University in 2020 with a degree in journalism and media studies. This was where she was able to hone her skills in reporting and experiment with different mediums such as photography, audio, and video. One of her favorite projects was writing, interviewing, and editing a series of reported podcasts for an audio journalism course. She spent a study abroad in Greece writing three fully-reported stories. While in school, she pursued multiple internships and worked with restaurant tech company Toast from her junior year through graduation. At Toast, she briefly worked on video production, where she shot videos of restauranteurs before the pandemic hit, and the strategy became to utilize UGC. She moved to Los Angeles in 2022 after being cast in V/H/S 99 (2022), Aftertaste (2022), and becoming Montell Fish's JAMIE in a series of performance art videos and album covers. Since then, she's picked up the director's monitor and fallen in love with directing. Her work thus far has included music videos for queer artists like Jack Rabbit and Cassidy King and AD’ing multiple projects for Renee Rapp. In addition to producing her own directorial work, she recently produced frequent collaborator Gabriella Mykal's feature documentary RP -- which just had its world premiere at the Atlanta Film Festival. She is currently in pre-production for "Deep in the Heart", a feature documentary about the gay rodeo. "Deep in the Heart" emerged as a testament to Isabelle's passion for storytelling. Collaborating with her close friend and co-director Mo Donegan, she has embarked on a poignant exploration of home and history, delving into the vibrant world of gay rodeo and Mo's growing up.
