Irene Hui

Irene Hui is a native of Durham, NC, by way of Thai and Chinese immigrants who ran restaurants in the city for over 30 collective years. As a photography hobbyist, it wasn't until after her healthcare career that she transitioned into full creative work, a transition that came naturally given the amount of operations experience she brought with her. Photography and production are at the center of her work today: she produces music videos, commercial photo and video work, and documentary projects, and crews on set in whatever capacity a production needs. She was part of the team behind QUACKS, a community-made short film that won four awards at the 48 Hour Film Festival's Greensboro chapter, including the Audience Award and 1st Runner-Up for Best Film. Her throughline across all of it is building the space for ideas and stories to grow into something real, the systems work that lets creative work actually happen.
