Frances “Frankie” Rubio is a first generation Filipinx-American living in Los Angeles. By trade, Frankie is a data-driven cultural marketer with over 10 years of experience working with clients such as Universal Pictures and Focus Features. Frankie discovered filmmaking later in life after becoming a caregiver for her father in 2016. Through this, she turned to storytelling and writing her experiences to cope, leading her to produce short films. Two of the short films she produced have screened at various worldwide film festivals and have received acquisitions from Starz and the New Yorker. Frankie was a Top 6 Finalist in Media for US Cannes Young Lions 2016, a recipient of the Upright Citizens Brigade diversity scholarship for sketch comedy in 2019 and was recently named a top 15 finalist for Wavelength Productions’ First-Time Director Grant. She holds a M.S. from Columbia University of New York and a dual B.A. from University of California San Diego.
