Activist media scholar advancing educational equity through storytelling, strategy, and service
About
Dr. Love is an assistant professor of Integrated Marketing Communication in the Department of Journalism and Media Studies at Jackson State University. For over a decade, she has leveraged digital media and cultural research as tools for social justice to advance educational equity across the higher education sector. From the classroom to private and federal education programs, such as the Black College Fund and the McNair Scholars Program, and into corporate educational settings like Logitech, the activist media scholar has worked to elevate minority programs and directly engage with ethnic communities through authentic storytelling and relationship-building.
Her fervor for media activism and educational advocacy developed as a Black College Fund ambassador at Mississippi's oldest Historically Black College, Rust College. Since then, Love has dedicated her life's work to utilizing digital media to promote equitable access for marginalized groups in the academy.
