About

Dilsey Davis is an award-winning filmmaker, producer, and writer who has spent more than two decades bringing overlooked stories to the screen. Her documentaries, television series, and educational media explore history, culture, art, identity, and social change, amplifying voices too often missing from the historical record. Her latest feature documentary, 13 Demands, revisits the 1969 takeover of Duke University's administrative building by Black students demanding dignity, representation, and institutional change. Dilsey directed and produced Rissi Palmer: Still Here, a country music documentary that premiered at the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival and aired nationally in PBS American Masters' digital series In the Making. She also created, produced, and directed Nuestro Barrio, the first Spanish-language television series to air on English-language television in the United States. Her other films include Now Let Us Sing, Zoo Crew, Sheriff Paula Dance: Bringing Change to Pitt County, Daughters of Addiction, and HEART: Serving Our Neighbors in Crisis. She is the founder of Café con Leche Media and co-founder of One Human Family Workshops, Inc., a nonprofit that uses the arts, especially music, to spark dialogue and understanding across communities.
