Bethany Swain is a documentary visual storyteller and former CNN video photojournalist with a passion for capturing stories that reveal the humanity behind the headlines. At CNN, she covered national and global news, from presidential campaigns to troops in Afghanistan—helping open doors in visual journalism by stepping into spaces where women had long been underrepresented. She spent over a decade at the University of Maryland as a journalism professor and Director of Video Production, mentoring the next generation of visual journalists. Now, through her company Swain Domain LLC, Bethany creates cinematic, mission-driven stories—elevating underrepresented voices and blending documentary journalism with creative, purpose-driven storytelling.
