Amy A. Young is an award-winning filmmaker with a passion for stories that explore identity, culture, and human connection. She currently serves as festival manager of the Double Exposure Investigative Film Festival in Washington, D.C., and works as an impact producer and editor at Spark Media. In 2024, Amy was an impact producer and production associate on Public Defender (dir. Andrea Kalin), a documentary acquired by The New Yorker. She also contributes as an editor and assistant editor for The People’s Recorder, a podcast series that was nominated for Best Indie Podcast at the 2025 Ambie Awards. Her own film, What Love Knows—a personal documentary on her relationship with her step-mother—won Best Short Documentary at the 2024 American University Visions Film Festival. Amy earned her Master of Arts in Film and Media Production from American University, where she directed, shot, and edited a range of short films. Guided by a commitment to emotionally resonant and immersive storytelling, Amy creates work that invites audiences to reflect on their own identities and relationships to others—fostering deeper understanding and empathy for the people and communities around them.
