About

Alyssa is a graduate of DePaul University's School of Cinematic Arts, where she received her B.F.A. in Film and Television, with a concentration in Documentary. She was born and raised in Southern California and started pursuing film at the age of 15, though her fascination for the digital medium began at age 4 when she started taking photos with her family's camera. Alyssa's passion for the craft grew throughout the years as she’s worked on numerous productions for local organizations back home as well as productions in Chicago. Her career goal is to connect as many people of different cultures and backgrounds as possible through film and show that there are truly, far more things we have in common than those that divide us. She continues to push for more representation in film and media, with a focus on the topics of diversity and mental health. Projects that she loves being a part of include those of social change, cultural representation, and biography. Alyssa is also a member of the Alliance of Documentary Editors (ADE), Asian American Documentary Network (A-Doc), and a former member of the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA).
