About

Alex Skalomenos is creative professional and documentary storyteller who produces and directs media across types. With years of experience leading union and non-union projects in creative, strategic, and logistical capacities, he's equally adept at producing large productions (both commercial and documentary), guiding strategy, and directing documentary work out in field. From 2016 to 2023, he most often worked in progressive politics and social advocacy, where he produced and creative produced the paid television and digital media for campaigns at the highest levels of US politics — including prominent governors, congresspeople, and statewide office holders. Before that, he spent a few years working in various capacities at Kartemquin Films, the Oscar-nominated documentary non-profit based in Chicago. While he enjoys contributing to an array of projects, he finds particular fulfillment working in socially and culturally conscious media — whether that happens to be producing an ad for an incumbent governor, directing a short documentary, assisting in the production of a feature documentary film, or helping a meaningful organization define and execute their creative goals. Above all, he believes in the importance of visual and narrative-based media in preserving history, shedding light on underserved stories and issues, and fostering real change.
