Join us for a screening of “Stand up for Madinah,” followed by a Q&A with its director & happy hour with local filmmakers.

You are invited to Video Consortium Philadelphia’s second event of 2026! The Philly chapter of Video Consortium is hosting a screening of STAND UP FOR MADINAH, (USA, 2024, 25 minutes) followed by a conversation with its director, award-winning journalist and VC Philly member, filmmaker Zainab Sultan. Light fare will be provided. Afterwards, we will gather for a happy hour at a nearby pub for drinks, conversation, and schmoozing. 

When: Thursday, Apr 16 from 6 pm to 9:30pm

Where: PhillyCAM, 699 Ranstead St. Philadelphia, PA (6-8) Afterwards, we will head to National Mechanics located nearby at 22 S 3rd St, Philadelphia (8:15-9:30)

ABOUT THE FILM

STAND UP FOR MADINAH, which premiered on Al Jazeera English’s Witness, follows Madinah Wilson-Anton — a Black Muslim woman and the first female Muslim legislator in Delaware — as she takes the House floor to call attention to the atrocities taking place in Gaza. A Democratic state representative who opposes U.S. support for Israel and is working to pass a Gaza ceasefire resolution, Wilson-Anton is also a local stand-up comedian.
