We’re flipping the script and going Back to the Beginnings with our very own “amateur night.” We’ll be screening a selection of our community’s very first films at our community partner venue - Saint Paul Neighborhood Network.
Before the deadlines, the credits, and the industry jargon, this work was hopefully fun, and it all started somewhere. We want to laugh, celebrate early passion, and hear the stories behind what first pulled you into this field. No pressure to speak when your film screens, there will be plenty of time to chat and mingle afterward.
To share a piece, please fill out this form by October 29th with your name and a link—we’ll keep it just between us until the big night. Nonfiction works and docs are encouraged, but all genres are welcome – just keep the clip under 5 minutes! The more rough-around-the-edges, the better. This isn’t about ego; it’s about fun, vulnerability, and remembering why we fell in love with storytelling in the first place. And yes, there’ll even be an audience award (details TBD).
Starting at 5pm, we’ll provide some food and drinks as we celebrate each others’ early works. By 7:30 we’ll wrap up and migrate next door to Lake Monster Brewing to continue the conversation.
Suggested donations start at $5 and all go toward supporting future hub programming.
