Colins work as a filmmaker has been praised by Short of the Week as something of a marvel worthy of study by documentary filmmakers outside of the nature genre. His visual storytelling documents human connections to the natural world, with a focus on outdoor recreation, ecology, and conservation. Colins films have received accolades including Best Short Film at Banff Mountain Film Festival and numerous Vimeo Staff Picks. He is the founder of Wild Confluence Media, a documentary production company that amplifies grassroots activism through impact storytelling. His clients include Patagonia, REI, Disney, Sitka Gear, Sierra Club, The Wilderness Society and the U.S. Forest Service.
