About

My name is Nathan Willis, and I am an Emmy award winning filmmaker based in the American South. I have directed documentaries that have appeared on Vice, NBC News, and PBS. My first feature length documentary, Rap Squad, won a Mid America Emmy award and aired on PBS stations across the U.S. as part of PBS’s Reel South. I mostly work as a one man production crew in order to tell intimate character driven stories. I am passionate about telling stories about the complexities of the South.

The Video Consortium is a global nonprofit media organization that supports the world’s nonfiction filmmakers and video journalists to tell bold stories that change the world.
