About

Crystal Tsang is a traditional Chinese Kung Fu practitioner and emerging documentary filmmaker from Los Angeles. After graduating from UC Berkeley with a double major in Economics and Film, she first attempted to fulfill her responsibility as the eldest daughter of a Chinese American family by landing a stable 9-5, where she became a Creative Strategist and an expert in all things digital marketing. Before long, Crystal became unable to deny her deeper calling and has since been working furiously on two personal documentary projects: Motherland, a short film about her relationship to her grandparents, who are children of Chinese Trotskyists, and Kung Fu Baby, a feature film that challenges the traditional Chinese Kung Fu community to confront its many contradictions. Crystal Tsang is also a member of The Saturday Free School for Philosophy and Black Liberation, where she is producing a podcast about James Baldwin, and will be migrating to Philadelphia this May.
