About

Conor O’Boyle is an award winning graphic artist with a focus on design for the screen. He created design and animation for Joan Baez I Am A Noise, which had its world premiere at the 2023 Berlinale, North American Premiere at SXSW, and its US theatrical release in October 2023. Conor’s work on the documentary included the creation of the opening sequence and animation throughout the film of original material from the Joan Baez archive. His motion design work brought Joan’s letters and diaries to life, and played important part in building the narrative of the documentary. Previous work includes design and animation for The 8th which had its world premiere at HotDocs and won the Hollywood Gold Award for best documentary in 2020. This film involved the animation of layered archive footage, photography and print material to help build the narrative, and transport the audience to a different time and place. He also created motion graphics for A Courtship which opened at the Tribeca Film Festival. Conor’s work on A Courtship involved creating the opening sequence for the film, and using motion graphics to explore the development of a relationship between two central characters in the film, much of which happened online. He was also the graphic designer and animator for Do I Sound Gay which premiered at TIFF. Additional work includes Sacred (PBS), Left of the Dial (HBO), and Marian (RTE). More recently Conor has contributed design and animation to the upcoming Smugshot documentary series (AMC) and The Way Home (KTF Films).
