About

Michelle Birsky is a composer, artist, and music producer based in Los Angeles who specializes in nontraditional, electro-acoustic film scores. She is best known for composing the score to Mother/Android, an upcoming Mirarmax film by Mattson Tomlin (The Batman), which she scored with her composing partner Kevin Henthorn. Michelle and Kevin bring their musical perspectives together as a film composing duo. They are influenced by composers like Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross and Emile Mosseri and recording artists like St. Vincent, Thom Yorke, and Bill Callahan, alike; which blend together to create a unique, contemporary sound that highlights the human voice as an instrument, ethereal synth lines, and emotional acoustic guitar. In 2019, Michelle released her debut LP femme.one, a feminist concept album, under her moniker Birch. In 2020, Michelle moved to LA and was accepted into the Society of Composer and Lyricists mentorship program alongside a small number of up and coming composers. Her recent work includes the original score for Asking For It, a feature film starring Stephanie Hsu and Janeane Garofalo which premiered at Cinequest 2020 and Fuse TV, and Mother/Android, a Miramax film by Mattson Tomlin (The Batman).
