About

Kate Coiro is a Brooklyn-based documentary filmmaker who believes storytelling is fundamental to the human experience and a powerful agent for change, capable of connecting people across borders, cultures and ideologies. She is most passionate about unscripted character-driven narratives that explore the significance of place, shed light on intersecting social and environmental justice issues and illustrate the dual human pursuit of individuality and belonging in new and creative ways. Currently, Kate is working as a full-time associate producer at Library Films, freelances across departments on smaller side-projects and is directing, producing, shooting and editing her own short film about teenage climate activists in NYC. In addition to filmmaking, Kate loves the outdoors, traveling, running and music.
