About

Karishma Vyas is an Emmy winning and Peabody nominated journalist with over 20 years of experience working in news and documentaries for Vice, Al Jazeera English, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and Britain’s Channel 4 news. In her current role as Senior Producer with Vice, she oversees the coverage of breaking news and current affairs films, focusing on everything from politics and pop culture, to conflict and natural disasters. Before joining Vice in February 2021, she worked as a correspondent and producer on long form films from New York, Bangkok, Manila, New Delhi and Kuala Lumpur, including documentaries on the war in Afghanistan, the rise of President Trump, the first wave of COVID infections in the US and the drug war in the Philippines, to name a few. She's experienced in managing the entire production process, from pitching and scripting films to managing budgets and post-production, as well as ensuring the mental and physical health of she colleagues. Before transitioning to long form, she honed her skills in the fast-paced environment of hard news, working as a producer and DP for Reuters TV and AFP news agencies in Thailand, the Philippines and India. Since working as a freelance journalist, Vyas has focused exclusively on reporting and directing long form documentaries for international clients.
