Jessie Dong is an independent documentary filmmaker and sociologist. As a sociologist, she creates documentaries on marginalized underground communities that combat reductive understandings and extend compassion. Her style and ethos could be described as: offbeat, warm, authentic, and unabashed. She is currently a PhD student in Sociology at Yale University and Junior Fellow at the Yale Center for Cultural Sociology.
