About

Jayne Orenstein was a video editor and reporter at The Washington Post from 2011-2023. She worked across the newsroom, from food features, to oral histories of sports rivalries, to profiles and interviews to editing the Post's first feature-length documentary, "First and 17." She also filmed, produced and edited video stories. Most recently, Jayne was a Senior Producer overseeing our foreign, national and local video coverage. In the Summer of 2022, Jayne filmed and arranged video shoots for 16 current and former Black NFL head coaches for an enterprise project exploring how they made it to the top of their field. Along with sports reporters, designers and editors, she shaped the story into “The Ones Who Made It” a short interview series featuring soundbites of coaches on their careers and why it is so difficult for Black coaches to get hired for the top positions. The story won an Edward R. Murrow Award for Sports Reporting.
