About

Giuliana Monteiro is a Brazilian writer and director currently living in São Paulo/Brasil. She is interested in telling intimate stories that highlight the diversity of Latin America. Her work blurs the line between fiction and nonfiction resulting in the encounter of universal elements. Most recent work includes the fiction feature film After the Mud Dries (in development), the documentary feature, Crazy for Bento (2023), and the short film I Dont Say Goodbye, I Say See You Soon (2015), which premiered at the 2014 Berlinale and selected by more than 30 international film festivals, winning best film at the Festival International de Viña del Mar (Grand jury prize for best short and festival prize for best film). Her work has been supported by the San Francisco Film Society and Kenneth Rainin Foundation, Fusion, the New York Foundation for the Arts, Spike Lee, Projeto Paradí-so, Berlinale, BAFTA, and TIFF. She received her MFA in Filmmaking from New York University and is a Co-Founder of Elefanti Films an independent production company based in São Paulo.
