Alexandra Garcia is a documentary director/producer based in Brooklyn, New York. Currently, she works as the Supervising Producer for The New York Times Op-Docs, the Oscar-winning series of short documentaries by independent filmmakers. Previously, she was a director/producer for The New York Times’s documentary series "The New York Times Presents," where she made films on topics ranging from international investigations to music and culture. In her earlier work for the newspaper, she shaped and produced some of the Times’s marquee digital documentary and interactive projects. Garcia’s work has earned three Emmy Awards and over a dozen nominations as well as been honored by the World Press Photo Awards, the RTNDA Edward R. Murrow Awards and the NPPA Best of Photojournalism and POYi contests. She was formerly a fellow at the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard and a visual journalist at The Washington Post.
