Akmyrat Tuyliyev is a Turkmen producer and new media artist. Currently, he is a Producer at MIT Open Documentary Lab and Co-Creation Studio and an Adjunct Professor of interactive and immersive storytelling at NYU Tisch and Columbia University.

Akmyrat Tuyliyev is a Turkmen producer and new media artist, working at the intersection of storytelling, technology, and culture. Akmyrat is an XR Artist Member at Onassis ONX Studio, an accelerator program that recognizes proven experience in the XR space and transformative artistic vision. His VR documentary 1991 was part of the Venice Biennale College Cinema VR, IDFA DocLab Forum, and NewImages Festival XR Development Market. Currently, he is a Producer at MIT Open Documentary Lab and Co-Creation Studio. He also teaches immersive and interactive storytelling at the Interactive Media Arts Program at NYU Tisch School of the Arts and Columbia University School of the Arts' Digital Storytelling Lab. Recently, he produced Snapchat AR lenses for major brands like Nike, Air Jordan, Coca-Cola, and Disney. Prior to his work with Snap, Akmyrat served as an interactive producer at PBSs POV Spark, where he produced international projects, including the Instagram documentary series Otherly in partnership with the NFB (Webby Nominee 2022, Columbia DSLs Digital Dozen: Breakthroughs in Storytelling Award 2022) and Atomu VR (Sundance 2020). Additionally, Akmyrat has directed and produced new media experiences with the United Nations, The History Channel, the Museum of Other Realities, Made in NY Media Center by IFP, and Frank Gehrys IAC Building Video Wall. Akmyrat studied film at the Savannah College of Art and Design and earned his Masters degree from NYU Tischs Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP).
