We'll gather in East-Williamsburg for a panel conversation of several documentarians and journalists.

New York – Join us for an evening of meaningful discussions on Artificial Intelligence and its impact on the future of journalism and documentary filmmaking with esteemed panelists.

Panel 1: Creative Storytelling and Ethical Considerations

This panel will dive into the ethical implications of integrating generative AI into documentary filmmaking. Director Sophie Compton (Another Body) and director Gary Hustwit (Eno) will discuss how they are implementing AI in their documentary filmmaking practice and creative storytelling, while examining the potential risks and moral dilemmas that arise when using AI in content creation.

Panel 2: Adapting to AI in Video Journalism

This panel will examine how video journalists are responding to the rise of AI in their field. Executive Producer of CBS News Melissa Mahtani will discuss the challenges and opportunities that AI introduces to storytelling, exploring how journalists can leverage these technologies while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and combating fake news.

Panel 3: Best Practices for AI in Archival Use and Documentary Filmmaking

The final panel will provide practical insights into best practices for using generative AI in documentary filmmaking. Stephanie Jenkins and Debra McClutchy from the Archival Producers Alliance will delve into deep-file archival research and provide guidelines to ensure that Generative AI enhances, rather than compromises, the integrity of documentary storytelling.
