Raji Ramanathan is a documentary filmmaker and multimedia journalist. She currently works as a Senior Supervising Producer for the Wall Street Journal. She previously worked as a senior video producer at AJ+/Al Jazeera. Raji focuses her storytelling on race, immigration and women. Her work is reflective of her journey as an Indian American woman. Raji has received Webby and Telly Awards for her work at AJ+. In 2014, Raji assisted on the production of an original investigative series at NBC, which earned several awards including a regional Emmy, Edward R. Murrow Award, National Press Club Award and others. Raji is motivated to tell stories that reveal the truth, reveal passion and struggle. Stories should challenge pre-conceived notions, should aim to change opinions by presenting fresh perspectives, and most of all, stories should inspire. Raji is a 2021 grantee of the Russo Brothers Italian American Film Forum. She was selected as a mentee for Video Consortium’s 2021 inaugural mentorship program, sponsored by SONY. Raji was also selected as a Fellow for the Sundance inaugural Producers Intensive. She is a proud member of the the Video Consortium, Emma Bowen Foundation and Brown Girls Doc Mafia. Raji received her B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley.
