Fritzie Andrade

About

While studying at CUNY's Graduate School of Journalism, Fritzie landed an internship with the The New York Times video unit. Originally intending to be a writer, this began her career in video. From there she went on to NBC's digital news desk and, later, Rodale as a producer. Fritzie eventually returned to The New York Times, where she covered media, tech, style and travel and developed the award winning travel series, ’36 Hours’ – an offshoot of the newspaper’s popular column. She later moved to VICE and became Editor-in-Chief of Travel, and eventually joined Gawker Media Group as the Executive Director of Video. Fritzie then became the Video Director for New York Media, overseeing content on New York Magazine, Vulture, The Cut and Intelligencer. As a first generation Mexican-American, Fritzie has worked throughout her career to make newsrooms more diverse and to support those underrepresented in journalism, especially people at the beginning of their careers. She's currently at Insider as their first Managing Editor of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
