Anna spent several years working in community media, overseeing the publication of several community-led newspapers, before moving into documentary in 2019. She is motivated to tell engaging human-focussed stories which link individual experiences with wider issues. Her work focusses on community and an interest in participatory filmmaking which has led her to run several filmmaking projects engaging local communities to tell their own stories.
Anna spent the last year training at OTOXO Productions in Barcelona, where she directed her own short documentary, CanciĂłn de Pilo, and was part of the collective of filmmakers who created La Luz Invisible, a documentary following the emotional journeys of three women using photography as a tool to heal after leaving abusive relationships.
Born and raised in Scotland, Anna has lived in London for the last 6 years. She recently set up production company Anima Goli Films with her long term collaborator Nima Shahmalekpur.
