Umberto Smerilli is a film composer and sound designer based in Rome. He has been working in the film and TV industry since university years when he got into a RAI TV studio as audio technician putting the basis for his technical know how.
After achieving the International Master in Film Music at Italian National School of Cinema under Academy Award winner M°L.Bacalov he starts an intense activity as soundtrack composer that will bring his works at Venice Film Festival several times as well as other prestigious international competitions. In 2017 Italian Film Academy ranked Umberto as 6th best Italian film composer.
In the same year he was invited at Artist Academy by Film Society of Lincoln Center NY.
In 2018 carries out teaching activities at Italian National School of Cinema about soundtrack production .
