Sara Joe Wolansky is a documentary director and Emmy-nominated producer. From films about treasure hunts to mysterious voicemails to documenting death on social media, she specializes in crafting empathetic, stranger-than-fiction stories that capture the complexity of the human experience. Previously, she was a Senior Video Producer for The New Yorker & supervised their award-winning film series, The New Yorker Documentary. Her films have won recognition from the ASME Awards, Newswomen's Guild of New York, the Webby Awards, the Society of Publication Designers, Telly Awards, Vimeo Staff Pick, and more. She previously worked as a producer for Bloomberg, VICE, and on several independent productions. She holds a M.F.A. in Film & TV Production from the University of Southern California.
