About

Jamilli Pacheco-Urquiza is a Mexican American documentary filmmaker and researcher from New Jersey. His video work and research is interested in uncovering the layers that mesh migration, displacement, food, and tourism together in Latin America. Jamilli wrapped up his time as a MFA student in the Social Documentation program in the Film and Digital Media Department at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he completed the documentary short Bajo el Sol. Bajo el Sol has premiered at SHORTS-México; Maryland Film Festival; EB Indie Film Festival. These days, he’s taken an interest in exploring his and his family’s personal archives, bridging together memory, migration, and history.
