Alex Farias is a filmmaker and photographer based in Los Angeles, California. As a director, she has completed three films with her first film premiering at the Cannes Short Film Festival. In 2019 she directed a theater piece at the Odyssey Theatre in Los Angeles as a benefit for the Midnight Mission on Skid Row, raising over $125,000 for the homeless community in the greater Los Angeles area.
Alex is currently in production for her first feature length documentary. She is drawn to unscripted work with a human rights focus.
She has spent extensive time overseas and worked for multiple organizations promoting human welfare in various countries. Following her travels, she studied screenwriting at the University of Washington and NYU Tisch and was trained professionally in the camera department. She has two award-winning feature length screenplays, one of which was finalist in the ScreenCraft feature screenplay competition and the other won Best Feature at the Harlem Film Festival.
