Ángel Linares

Venezuelan documentary filmmaker and National Geographic Explorer graduated from the National School of Film Arts of the UNAM (ENAC-UNAM), nominated for the Ariel Award for best documentary short film, and whose works as producer and director have been screened and awarded in venues such as the Morelia International Film Festival (Award for Best Documentary Short Film), the Viña del Mar International Film Festival (FEISAL Award), the Semaine de la Critique of the Cannes Festival, the Sarajevo International Film Festival, the Festival in Havana, Escales Documentaires International Documentary Creation Festival in La Rochelle, the Madrid Film Festival (Audience Award), among others. His projects in development have been selected and awarded, in venues such as: Encuentro Nuevas Miradas of the EICTV, Miradas DocMarket, DocMontevideo, Doculab of the FICG, Iberseries Platino Industria, the Catalyst Storieroad International, Ibermedia Program and Conecta. He has also directed documentaries and non-fiction content for Channel 22, OXFAM Mexico, Discovery Home and Health and Channel 14 of the Mexican Public Broadcasting System. In his career, it stands out that he was selected as one of the 5 producers under 30 years of age worldwide to be part of the Pathways Mentorship Program of the Realscreen Summit 2021, one of the most important non- fiction content meetings in the audiovisual industry. ; as part of the 2022 cohort of the Jackson Wild Summit Fellowship, the most prestigious meeting for environment and nature filmmakers in the world; as part of the first cohort of Santiago Wild Lab fellows (an initiative supported by National Geographic and Jackson Wild); in the Emerging Content Creator Inclusion Initiative of the National Association of Latin Independent Producers (NALIP) of the United States and as Director in the Documentary International Film Camp "Interaction" in Pozega, Serbia His latest documentary feature “Kay”, about the Celestún Fishing Refuge Zone, is supported by The Redford Center.
