Zara Katz is an independent photo producer and filmmaker for editorial, documentary and branded content. She brings a narrative approach to still and moving images, specializing in crafting character-driven visual stories. Collaboration is key to her work. She is the co-creator of @EverydayIncarceration, an Instagram feed looking at 40 years of mass incarceration in the United States and “Women on the Outside,” a forthcoming feature documentary film. These projects have been supported and exhibited by the Magnum Foundation, Brown Center for Media Innovation, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, Eastern State Penitentiary, Photoville, FOTODOKS, New York State Council for the Arts and the Women's Fund by the Mayor of New York/New York Foundation for the Arts. Katz has produced for a variety of outlets including: The New York Times Lens blog, Time magazine, Newsweek, Playboy, PopUp Magazine, Refinery29, Oxford American and Lifetime/A+E Networks. Most recently, Katz was the Senior Photography Producer on a project with Getty Images, Dove and Girlgaze to create a new collection of licensable images and the current Dove campaign featuring 179 women around the world, photographed by 116 women photographers in 39 countries. The campaign won the Silver Lion Award at Cannes 2019.
