Nancy Burneo Salazar is a documentary filmmaker born and based primarily in Quito-Ecuador, however, her work keeps her traveling to both coasts of the United States, to San Diego and New York. Moving between the United States and Latin America, as well as to other places in the Global South, broadens the perspective of her work, mostly focused on stories related to social justice. She is interested in forming and strengthening networks to support documentary work around the world so that the stories being told have the greatest possible political and social impact. She worked for a long time as a social anthropologist. Her documentary practice began later in life as an autodidact, formalizing it in the Graduate Program in Social Documentary at the School of Visual Arts in New York and the Diploma in Creative Documentary at the Universidad del Valle (Cali-Colombia).
