About

Serge's first short doc, "Jourdie: Challenging America's Fashion Industry" was created in cooperation with editorial teams of CNN Global Features (Hong Kong) and CNN International (London, the U.K.). The project was funded through CNN Film School – an editorial initiative supported by luxury automotive brand Genesis in an advertising partnership with CNN International Commercial (CNNIC). The film was featured on CNN website and was well received by media in the U.S., South Korea, Australia, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Macao, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, and Vietnam. His second documentary, "Long Way Home", won a 2022 Zenith and Sidney Gross Memorial Prize in Journalism for best investigative reporting. Same year, it was shortlisted for 2022 Global University Film Award (category: best documentary) and was screened at America’s largest documentary festival DOC NYC as a part of official selection. Before shifting to filmmaking in 2020, Serge worked as a freelance journalist, staff writer, reporter, and interviewer for a variety of European media covering Eastern European politics. In 2018-2020, he was a foreign correspondent of the Current Time TV – a 24/7 Russian-language TV channel with editorial office in Prague, the Czech Republic. In this capacity, he was nominated for 2019 Journalist of the Year Award. The Current Time TV is ran jointly by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) and the Voice of America, and is fully funded by the U.S. Congress. Serge is a graduate of the Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute at the New York University. He currently resided and works in New York City.
