I’m a filmmaker who is most excited by impact driven documentary, experimental film and photography. In love with ecology, queerness, forgotten places and visual surprises.

About

Dean grew up in the redwoods of the Bay Area and was obsessed with cameras from a young age. During his teenage years he discovered a love of light and motion when making mountain bike videos with his friends. Simultaneously he nurtured a love for nature, becoming a naturalist interested in fungi, ecology and botany. He is constantly building upon and merging these two passions. While attending UC Santa Cruz, Dean fell in love with documentary and experimental modes of filmmaking. He was a part of a creative community that saw film as a tool for personal expression as well as activism and education. This ethos combined with a childhood love of light and motion informs Dean’s filmmaking style today. Thoughtful, intimate and impactful projects excite him most. Dean is based in Oakland, but happy to travel. He is available to work on a variety of projects. Get in touch!
